After announcing the budget of 2017-18, the union cabinet has given the green signal for ” Pradhan MantriGramin Digital SakshartaAbhiyan” (PMGDISHA) to extend digital literacy to over 6 crore rural households in rural areas across the country. This decision was taken in Union Cabinet meeting which was chaired by Prime Minister NarendraModi. With the approval of the scheme, the government has allocated a budget of Rs.2,351.38crore for one of the largest digital literacy programmes in the world. The government is expected that this project will be completed by March 2019. However, this mission was announced by the Finance Minister.
